Ambachts- & Baljuwhuis, Voorstraat 12, 2251 BN in Voorschoten.  With complimentary coffee/tea

Nowadays the tafelklavier is overshadowed by its bigger and louder cousin, the fortepiano. The development of the hammerklavier after 1750 was rapid. Instrument builders experimented with various forms and tonal colours.

We know of Mozart’s performances on Vienesse fortepianos built after 1790. But how did his music sound on the instruments he used himself twenty years earlier? The earliest documented solo concert on a tafelklavier was given by Johann Christian Bach in 1768. We know he had it with him in 1778, when he met Mozart in Paris and we can assume that Mozart performed his famous A minor sonata on this instrument. Vincent takes us on a journey in Mozart’s sound world and performs on an original 1777 Frederick Beck tafelklavier.
